How long does a backup of the UPS battery run an aquarium filter?

I was looking into getting a backup battery UPS for my aquarium is encased power off … However, I was looking at the specifications of some, and I found this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16842117004 I need to know about how long it will run my aquarium filter and air pump? I have an AquaClear 50 filter, and my air pump and only runs on 3 watts or less. Does anyone have any idea?

the duration of the emergency power depends on the nominal capacity in ampere-hour battery figure in the AH. Most batteries used in these things usually have a rating of 4 AH. which means that the battery can provide 1 amp for 4 hours or 4 amps for 1 hour. at 12 volts which usually translates to 48 watt-hours. I'm not familiar with the power requirement for its aqua clear, but lets assume its 10 watts, plus 3 watts of the air pump gives 48 / (10 + 3) = 3.7 hours theory, assuming my assumptions are correct. Either way, this is a very simplified way of saying it. to get to the point, you can extend the working time by installing large extra batteries, but will have to go outside and probably 'd void the warranty. to add, you simply connect the additional battery at the same time taking care of the polarity, of course.
