Aquarium Fish International
Bettas in a 1.5 gallon?

I just read the new journal International Aquarium Fish Betta is preferred to maintain this type of configuration. Was written 80F water temperature is the most important factor besides water changes to keep your fish healthy. Why do many people even on this site against it? Please note that I can do not own or has never had a Betta.

Most people are lazy and do not know how to properly take the care of a fish. Also many people do not understand the fish and impose human properties and their own feelings on the fish. Do not want to be in a small environment, so how can the fish? This is almost a debate between an apartment and a house. If nice houses, safe. Can a man still living in a small cell, yeppers. Add to the quality of life there, where we know that a home is more pleasant and know that prison life would not be so good. Then project that the mentality of the fish. Now, a 1.5-liter aquarium is like a small tract house equivalent with a betta. The glasses are like a prison, a 5 gallon is as a good-sized house with a garage, and a larger tank is a mansion! far as swimming, the room of the bettas are avid swimmers like and will not plenty of room to flap in a 1.5 gallon tank. In the wild they can become accustomed to miles of rice or pond, but these areas are very shallow and once the fish is their territory which tends to remain in a relatively small area. It is also noted that the bettas at the store have no idea what a rice field or how it feels to live there. They are all captive bred and accustomed to smaller environments! Instinctively, you might have a desire for a rice rice type environment, so that a tank surface is desired. A 1.5 gallon tank would be just about the right to a minimum size tank that provides the betta with a feeling of a good-sized territory is minimal. Has room to swim and play, but just enough space. No other fish will be happy to size. The main issue is my end and that water quality and the environment. A tank of 1.5 liters is a very small volume of water and therefore very difficult to maintain constant temperature. There are not many filtering options, and make small cleaning and water changes are very difficult. Therefore you have large temperature and add more shock to the fish in the tank cleaning. Care experts, or people with a temperature-controlled, have small problems, but the person common can not provide the balance needed to keep the constants in the smaller tanks. Even 3 gallons is a bit small for most, as follows still quite difficult to keep warm and adequate water changes and tank maintenance. It is up to 5 gallons or 10 where it becomes easy to regulate temperature and provide adequate filtering. Therefore, this brings me back to my first point. People then hear people Betta others who had more success in a 5 gallon and all the other tanks are cruel and terrible! Then it becomes the common idea, and nothing less is cruel. While it is well looked betta in a tank of 1.5 gallons water quality may be temporary and is constant and kept at ideal levels, the betta will live a long and happy life. It is when an owner can not inexperienced or lazy provide filtration temperature or bad things happen. So the golden rule becomes a larger tank is necessary because it is absolutely necessary simple for most people. For experts who have dedicated a room controlled temperature and can provide adequate filtering, the deposit smaller is better because it can accommodate more tanks. The 1.5-gallon would be a minimum size of a betta happy, and therefore the ideal tank as it is the smallest (that provides more usable space) when the Betta can thrive. Personally I keep mine in a 5 gallon, because I have so many tanks (more reef than nothing) and I fall Under the "lazy" category because I have to keep the deposits of many who try to get the minimum deposit required to deposit easier maintenance. :) Edit: I saved a gallon micro reef tanks before and can attest to the fact that bacteria can keep well in a small tank. No need for a 3-gallon tank to cycle for the benefit of biological filtration. (That is the issue of changing the water again where people clean tank outdoors and therefore have difficulty in maintaining the bacteria in balance, but a little disturbed tank is good in the cycle.
