How to renew particle board furniture?

I have an aquarium base is a panel covered with some type of adhesive "natural wood" looking finish is chipping off because its wet when I clean my aquarium. Also I have an Ikea particle board stereo TV stand has watermarks. Can anyone tell me how I could make it look new again without paint? I have parrots and can not paint around. I live in one bedroom apt. and winter so you can not open the windows? Could something be used as wallpaper? Any website that shows some ideas would be great Thanks
