Is it safe to use distilled water in a fishbowl?

The water where I live is very difficult, and I was sick of cleaning up the white scale out of my tank 20 gal. I filled the tank with distilled water, because I know that does not have any minerals at all. I've been looking around the Internet to see if it is safe to use a tank of pure distilled water and the impression that I'm not a good idea. Currently there are no fish in the tank, and I have a bubble stone long installed. Other than that, I have access to the aquarium salt, stress coat, and pH indicators. I am at a loss what to do, and I'm very hesitant to use tap water. Thank you for your time and worry.
