If you are near a fairly large city, Craigslist is really the way forward. If you are near Seattle, I'd love give filters, heaters, gravel, etc! There are plenty of people out there who have extra material, and once all set, it is not "used." I had six or seven tanks set up, and simply have reduced the time required for fish that I like. You should be able to find a nice set up complete with accessories for $ 100 or less. My husband recently bought me a complete set of a tank of 46 gallon bow front $ 100 and came with everything, including a position very good, lights, and everything else. The stand alone in the pet store here is over $ 200. For my taste, I like a planted aquarium, and fish safety Evan to have a place to hide. The plants are slightly less expensive than the ornaments, but that does not mean you can not have both. My first 65-liter tank and support found for $ 25 to someone at work my husband (to tell your friends and family to keep your ears open). We had to close again, but maybe the silicone the aquarium will cost another $ 20, and was very easy to do. I met another girl 55. tank, complete setup, for $ 100 through the classifieds. A wine with a 'python' to do my water changes super simple. Therefore, what I'm really saying is that if you are patient and take the time to look around, you can find great deals. You can find the fish via the internet, classifieds, and I even have a pair of free discussion of craigslist.org. Good luck and good hunting!
