Aquarium Light
aquarium lighting can be one of the most misunderstood of fish keeping. Many varieties of fish thrive when lighting is dim, with the exception of a few high level people that need light to thrive. If plants are included and must be for the control of algae, the light becomes very important.
Note that natural light in the average room does not serve the aquarium plants as well. artificial sunlight or applied directly to the tank is what we will do the trick. Care must be taken to ensure that the light source does not raise the temperature of the tank too high. Most fish species can do well in dim light, but the plants need more direct light to thrive. In fact, plants deprived of light will be a detriment to the tank.
Most species can tolerate a temperature change of 5 degrees for a matter of hours. With today's tanks should not be difficult to maintain proper temperature. Location the window where the tank can get about 2 hours of diffused sunlight is very good for plant life in the tank.
Typically, a south facing window will provide light that is too hard and hot for most fish. Too much light will certainly encourage the growth of algae in the tank.
If artificial light is used in most cases have to be placed in the top of the tank and near the water. Note that the bulbs do not produce heat. This can be a benefit to you in colder climates but requires close supervision when the ambient temperature is already high. Of course care should be taken when the air conditioning roomsare. Make sure your tank that are not in a particular project air conditioner.
When considering the overall temperature of a tank that is well to remember in a natural environment and open water the water temperature can vary from surface to bottom. If your tank also varies from top to bottom and it is of extreme groups species seek their preferred level and this is no cause for concern
