GRU (Steve Carrell) is the largest villain in the world. Or so it was until someone managed to steal the Great Pyramid of Giza and replace it with an inflatable substitute under the nose of the world. You will now have your game if you want his title back, but goes some way to sink to depths still refused to play before becoming a father.

Things like "despicable Me" polls the downside of the democratization of art. It used to be that the experience of creating animation, or any technical requirement of the process was costly and time consuming to develop, leaving only a few groups (like Disney) to enjoy it. The creation of CGI has significantly expanded the options realistic techniques feature-length animation to the point that – but not everyone can do it – anyone with enough pockets can.
This is undoubtedly a good thing because it increases the pool of talent and remove obstacles from the path of great new talent, similar to how digital video and cheap high definition has left the market micro-budget film of flowering. But it has its price and "despicable Me" is the movie version of it. It is soft, cooked and thought, since it has (relatively) easy to do.
You see this particularly with the animation. Without the guidance of Brad Bird and Andrew Stanton, animator worst impulses of visual gags and jokes often easier to grab anyone or anything to stop it. Movies like "despicable Me" as nothing more than play the enlarged group "would not it be great if …" sessions have gone well brainstorm to screen with no one to stand in the way and say 'wait a moment. "

There are exceptions to this, of course, Don Bluth has certainly made his share of Stinkers for example, but with CGI family films that have been taken as a machine easy money making potential, it is becoming a more widespread phenomenon than ever.
"Negligible Me" is essentially a collection gag order jammed with sticks and gum and called a movie. Groups living in a house in suburban looking exceptionally badly, which overwhelms other cars in its tank, while that parallel parking, which has an identical band of henchmen to do his dirty work, that sort of thing. His evil has not been so successful lately and to Take your plan to steal the moon is going to need another loan from Bank of Evil (formerly Lehman Brothers), but before he can get going to have to be tested for stealing a Chinese military psychiatrist's rays.
It's the kind of thing is the idea of the nefarious scientist Dr. Gru (Russell Brand) accidentally the gun doing wrong so funny gag repeated several times. We like 'wit' Gru Vector rival villain (Jason Segel) who is obsessed with fish, from the floor of your aquarium with your weapon of squid problems. Everything is covered by the dialogue that aims to be painfully hip pre-teen, and fails miserably.
Before you can get the shrink ray, is stolen by Vector and locked himself in his seemingly impenetrable fortress. Luckily for Gru, Vector has a sweet tooth of oatmeal cookies. Even more fortunately, a group of girls orphaned by the local house of girls have been selling cookies door to door to keep the orphanage manager (Kristen Wiig), the lifestyle they are accustomed. Clearly, Gru would have to take and learn some lessons about humanity to be used as a delivery of robots on a biscuit.
Carrell gives a real feel of Gru a strong Eastern European accent, especially in the glimpses we have of outstanding foreign Gru unhappy childhood at the hands of his domineering mother (Julie Andrews). The servants are occasionally funny, but it is rather the result of a kick around the wall and see what sticks mentality that permeates the whole film.
"Negligible Me" is bright and pretty enough that kids will like, which is certainly their goal. Also is no brain, no heart and no soul. A good vocal performance by Steve Carrell and a few jokes work, that is about all that is saved from the trash pile, but not much.
