What are the lights of the reef aquarium?

I bought a 55 gallon tank, and had this huge light fixture peek. But the lights were not light original white, blue or purple were like-ish. Saw this stamp on them and said: "Coral Sun." I think that is the brand. Either way, I looked at the lights reef in google and photos with saltwater aquariums blue light appeared. So I guess I have the lights must be something in a saltwater aquarium. But we do not have salt water! I have fresh water, the light hurt my fish? Or cause damage to ornamental plants or plastic? I was thinking of getting live plants, that help plants grow light? Or do I have floracent white light? What are these lights used for exactly?

The blue light is an actinic light. Most actinics in the aquarium trade are colored blue or purple-ish. There are two reasons why they use the marine aquarium: 1 – Most people like the "Blue" look when combined with white light. It is visually appealing to most people. 2 – aquariums containing coral reef animals that live in a symbiotic relationship with photosynthetic bacteria, called zooxanthellae. These are common in corals, anemones and clams few. The animal in question offers a safe environment for bacteria to live, in exchange, shares of some bacteria of the products of photosynthesis with its host. Animals with these bacteria depend on them for survival. Zooxanthellae move to more efficient photosynthesis under a light wavelength of about 460 nanometers. Our eyes perceive the same length wave as a kind of blue or blue-green. Actinics not likely needed in a reef aquarium, but looks good. Also, do not contribute a little coral color (more photosynthesis = less concentration of zooxanthellae. Zooxanthellae are brown colonies, which is usually less attractive than other colors of the corals) ——- Although less common than blue light on a freshwater tank, I doubt that will hurt the fish or plants. However, many freshwater assemblies are designed to look like a paradise of nature – a river or pond, for example. A blue light shines looks good when it comes to a charge of reefs play a piece of ocean (deep water refracts longer wavelengths, so a slightly bluish tint may seem natural).
