Aquarium Reef
I have a 29 gallon reef tank and I am moving, what do I do?

I am moving and I have no idea what I do with the tank?

He has three reef tanks that I had to move a little more than a year ago. First, decide whether to keep everything in the tank. Anything you you no longer want, or not doing so, you may be able to return to a local store store credit (you can use this to buy salt or other materials). If you no longer want no set-up, you can advertise on eBay (specify pick-up only), craigslist, or classified. This may be easier if you're traveling a long distance, want to upgrade, or have no time or space in its new location. If you decide to keep what they have now, the options may depend on how far you are moving. If driving a day, especially if you're doing more than one trip, you can move everything yourself. On a trip to the new location before moving the tank, you can get a large plastic bin and mix the salt water and the use of a heater and powerhead to keep it mixed, aerated, and the correct temperature when fish arrive. When it comes time to move the tank and contents, the bag of fish in plastic bags the same as when he brought home – keep about 1 / 2 of the air bags 1 / 2 of water. I have an old picnic cooler I bought at a thrift store to move the fish because it keeps the temperature constant. You can put the bags with fish, corals, and invests in the refrigerator, and when the lid is closed, you can even stack things on top. Place the substrate and live rock (separately in 5 gallon buckets) of water sufficient to maintain these covers, along with its filter. If you have these wet, most of the bacteria to survive, and you will not have worry about large amounts of ammonia in the tank. Once you have the substrate and rock out, empty the remaining water and head to its new location. Once you arrive, decompress the tank and the first organisms. If your picnic cooler is clean, it is possible to release living organisms in it and set the filter on the edge. This will give some time to set up the tank and add the live rock and substrate. You can put the contents of the refrigerator in the tank, then slowly fill the top with water premixed. Since the new water chemistry can be a little different to what the fish were before, do it gradually! This is the "acclimatization" for the new tank. If you are moving at a distance further, you may want to see if a friend or store (privately owned, not a chain) to the "old" place would be willing to look after your fish until you arrive at your new location, then send the fish to you. This would have two sets of equipment if you leave tank with a friend, but you might be able to make arrangements with a store owner. If you use a friend to do this, cover the care of your tank and packing / shipping information with them and before you leave: http://www.uniquaria.com/articles/shipping.html
