How often should I change the water in my tank 10 gallon aquarium?

I recently purchased a 10-gallon tank and placed a goldfish Ryukin medium in size after a day of filtration performance. I'll add another goldfish Ryukin there after 3 days, but this time will be reduced in size. Then three days later, another small Ryukin. Having all three goldfish in there, how often should I change water? My plan was to change the 25% of the water every week and week 4 will be 100% water change as well as tank cleaning. Any suggestions on how to handle my aquarium and fish properly?

Your tank is essentially too small for a goldfish, much less three. And the tank has not gone through the nitrogen cycle – Which is 4-6 weeks with no fish – but have been activated by the addition of goldfish and I imagine that there is a peak of ammonia. You will find the fish gasping at the surface or or sitting on the substrate and may develop dark brown / black markings, then you will die. ALL deposits are filtered WEEKLY water changes. With Goldfish especially. If you want this fish to live you need to do daily water changes until the cycle tanks – which will have a month or so with the fish as you have continue making changes to keep the fish alive. Never shift to 100% because it destroys any bacteria established. You need at least one tank of 35 to 40 gallons or larger for 3 goldfish. At least 20 for a gallon goldfish. Overfiltered.
