Testing your aquarium water properly
It seems pretty obvious, but it's surprising how many aquarium owners do not realize the importance of water in the tank for the health of your fish! The temperature, pH level and the number of fish that can affect the health of your tank. The only way to ensure that water remains the right is regularly tested with appropriate test kits.
Always have a thermometer on hand and test the water daily to make sure it is about 24 degrees (this may vary depending on the species so be sure to double check.) The best thermometers are those that stick to the glass so you can confirm temperature every time you look in the tank. If the temperature is outside the correct range, the fish will be much more susceptible to diseases. It is equally important water tank that maintains a constant temperature level, so do not place near heaters or air conditioners. When you change the water only add water that is the same temperature so that the fish are not frightened.
The level of PH tanks is undoubtedly one of the most important things you can control. You can buy a test kit of about ten dollars and should test every few days. Want to see a level of about 6-7; Higher than seven is alkaline, and below seven is acidic. If you ever add anything to all water, including more water, you should try again to see the effects. This applies to the decorations, rocks, air stones, or medication.
You will also want to test ammonia levels regularly, as this is dangerous for fish if it builds too. If ammonia is too high, the fish will die, in order to keep the water and the filter clean and re-tested at least every week so you can cut any problem in the bud before causing death. The level of nitrite in water should always be zero, and regular high readings indicate you need a new filter. Along with proof of PH and ammonia test, maintain the test of nitrite in the hand as well, and the test a week or more if a problem occurs.
The latest evidence to do for healthy aquarium water are the hardness and the concentration of carbonate hardness. Everyone has the hardness of water and carbonate levels in terms of their supply cities, and most fish grow in softer water. This would be more than fifty but less than two hundred parts per million and above could mean you will get sick. Carbon hardness is less often a problem, but it is so important to test if it gets out of hand.
All the games before mentioned are inexpensive and vital. For a close eye on your aquarium water, you can ensure your fish thrive and live a healthy and happy life at home. Saves money purchase of expensive medicines and having to replace the fish, not to mention unnecessary guilt wondering if maybe I could have taken much better care of them!
