Brown Aquarium Sand
Do I have a problem with my bike saltwater aquarium??

Greetings: The May 4: I created a Red Sea aquarium (40 gallons) with sand (not live) and live rock. I am filled with surface water to which I had added the red sea salt. Using two different test batteries, I've never seen the peak of ammonia (follow reading 0) and nitrates and nitrites are zero as well (after 4 weeks). I have some good fuzzy green grass like algae growing on rocks and spots on the glass, and rocks are producing small air bubbles. A 14 gallon tank that has just begun … used live sand and live rock different fire in ammonia after 2 days, and has brown algae growing all over … rocks, sand, etc. .. thermometer Just wondering what is happening with the 40 gallon ……. Any ideas?

Have you added a source of ammonia in the tank? Personally, I have started a 30 gallon aquarium that never showed a peak of ammonia. I made use of live sand at the aquarium, but the live rock was probably able to handle the amount of ammonia available. I would add a small fish or two, like a green chromis.
