How do I clean my fish tank ornaments / decorations? Chlorine is right?

I have a 10 gallon tank and my decor is dirty. The color has faded into a dark dirty brown. I researched and found I could use a bucket of water and add 1 / 2 cup of bleach in it and enjoy my ornaments. You can then remove and rinse in warm water for about 60 seconds and then be sure to put back in the aquarium. *** I wonder if these steps are safe and whether it is safe to use chlorine. PLEASE HELP!

I do not use bleach. The "dirt" probably contains some material from algae and living that is healthy for a tank. If you want clean then take it out and use some water and just rub with a clean sponge that has not been used for anything else (Do not use anyone who has been in contact with soap or cleaning products). If you need something a bit abrasive then use or aquarium Epsom salts (table salt NO!). There is no need for chlorine at all.
