How I can care for a freshwater aquarium with live plants?

I was considering adding live plants to my freshwater aquarium. I wondering what kind of things such as equipment, lighting, etc. I substrate would have to obtain. So are strong and healthy plants for a beginner. And finally what shuld I can test the water and where it should be. Thanks!

Fluorescent lighting (green is best) of iron and potassium rich fertilizers CO2 reactor system of yeast (Based on a bottle, the air tube, a solution of water, sugar and yeast) eat algae that does not bother plants (oto cat or a snail Nerita), algae also benefit from this. I have that and my plants are doing pretty well.
