How I can know how many gallons of water from my tank into a hexagon have?

I need this information to try to determine whether keep your weight soil and certainly am not a mathematician!

I can tell you how to calculate the area of a hexagon, but as you say you is not a mathematician, you might want have a problem (perhaps unfounded) only the development of numbers, so here's an easy way: put a gallon of water in it, and check how high the water level is. Calculate how much higher compared to the aquarium water level to 1 gallon. They say the water level with 1 gallon is 2 inches, and the aquarium is 18 inches, so it would be a 9-gallon aquarium.
