Font type pump for use in a "deep pool?

I'm trying to add a feed to my shallow pool. It's just an inch deep at its deepest (obviously, which decreases as it empties). I have tried two submersible pumps (one of Rio over 50 and a Pontek 70), which are too large and above the water level. The Pontek still works, but I'm not sure if it supposed to work on the water level or not and no one answers to emails from that company. Does anyone have any suggestions? Money is tight, so that's a very important factor. I have two aquarium pumps – For a gallon and a gallon of 5. I'm not looking to make a huge source of welcome, just a little to attract birds. Harborfreight.com tried searching – the most What little I could find 66gph HydroStar Pacific ($ 7.99), and the dimensions are too large to fit in an inch or so of water, and this pump should be completely submerged.
